Not in the usual sense. Street meters in downtown’s Central Parking District, which includes the blocks around Lower Broadway, are enforced 24 hours a day, every day, so evenings and Sundays are not free there. Free parking within walking distance of Broadway is limited to specific cases, such as Nissan Stadium’s Lot E on Predators game nights, which comes with a free shuttle to Bridgestone Arena. For most visits, the practical goal is cheap parking, not free parking.
When Downtown Meters Are Enforced
| Area | Meter enforcement |
|---|---|
| Central Parking District (downtown core) | 24 hours a day, every day |
| Other metered areas, such as Midtown, Edgehill, and Hillsboro Village | 6 a.m. to midnight |
Source: WSMV, April 2025. Outside the downtown core, enforcement hours are shorter, so check the posted hours on the meter or kiosk where you park.
If you have a disability placard or plate, the rules for parking at meters come from state law and NDOT; check the signage and NDOT’s guidance before you rely on free meter parking.
Free Options That Exist
- Nissan Stadium Lot E on Predators game nights. Bridgestone Arena lists complimentary parking at Lot E, across the river, with an optional two-way shuttle to the arena every 15 to 20 minutes from 2 hours before to 2 hours after the game; the lot is locked 2 hours after the game (Bridgestone Arena). The arrangement can change from game to game, so check the Nashville Downtown Partnership’s Best Ever Event Parking (BEEP) page for Predators games on the day.
- Free buses on game days. For Titans home games, WeGo offers free local bus service and free park-and-ride express buses from Bellevue and Hickory Hollow, according to Nissan Stadium; for Nashville SC home games, WeGo routes 52 and 77 are fare-free (GEODIS Park).
- Walking or riding in. If you are staying within walking distance, or come in by bus or BCycle, you avoid parking altogether.
Cheap Instead of Free
For a short stop, a meter with the rate you see on the kiosk can be the cheapest paid option; for a full evening or day, a garage with a posted maximum is simpler. The Music City Center garage, for example, posts $15 for up to 5 hours (Music City Center). Prices and garages are compared in how much parking costs in Nashville, and where they are in where to park downtown Nashville.
