It has real advantages, especially in health care, along with structured support for founders. The Nashville Entrepreneur Center runs accelerator programs by stage. PreFlight “turns an idea into a tested, validated business plan.” TakeOff takes founders “from idea to launch with mentors who’ve done it.” InFlight works on positioning, sales, and strategy for growing companies. Project Healthcare puts founders “in the rooms where health systems buy” (Entrepreneur Center). Its fall cohorts graduate with a founder expo and pitches, and $40,000 in non-dilutive Impact Grants is awarded on the spot. Applications for the spring 2027 programs are open, and the programs begin in February. The health care base is large: Wikipedia counts more than 300 health care companies in Nashville, including HCA (Wikipedia). On taxes, Tennessee has no personal income tax. Businesses still face state business taxes, so check your entity type with the Tennessee Department of Revenue or a tax professional.

Before You Start Here

  1. Match your market: health care and health tech fit the city’s base; see what the tech scene is like in Nashville.
  2. Understand the taxes: personal income is untaxed, as explained in whether Tennessee has a state income tax, but business taxes apply; this is general information, not tax advice.
  3. Apply to a program if you want mentors and a cohort; check the center’s site for deadlines.
