What hotels are near Germantown?

Germantown does not have the hotel density of downtown Nashville, but there are options that put you inside or immediately adjacent to the neighborhood, and several downtown hotels are close enough to Germantown to serve as a practical base.

In the neighborhood

The Germantown Inn is the closest thing to an in-neighborhood accommodation. It is a two-story Federal-style house constructed in 1865 by a German immigrant, making it one of the oldest buildings in the historic district still in use. The inn operates as a bed and breakfast with ten rooms in the main mansion and five in a separate retreat house. The Federal architecture and original features place it solidly within the neighborhood’s historic fabric rather than adjacent to it. It is a small operation and books out on weekends; reservations should be made well in advance for Friday and Saturday nights.

Near the neighborhood

Several hotels in the northern downtown area are within walking distance of Germantown. The distance from the lower edge of the Germantown historic district to the northern cluster of downtown hotels is roughly a half mile to three-quarters of a mile, making most of these walkable.

Hotels in the Bicentennial Mall area near the Tennessee State Museum and the Nashville Farmers Market are the most convenient for Germantown access. Staying here puts you at the neighborhood’s doorstep for morning coffee at Steadfast and dinner reservations at Rolf and Daughters.

For visitors whose primary interest is Germantown’s food and neighborhood character but who still want access to Broadway, downtown hotels within a 15-minute rideshare of both neighborhoods are the practical choice. The Gulch’s hotels are close to both downtown and Germantown, though in a different direction. The Bobby Hotel in downtown Nashville and several SoBro properties offer this split-the-difference positioning.

Practical considerations

Germantown does not have the hotel infrastructure to house large groups of visitors, which is part of why the neighborhood retains its residential character even as Nashville’s overall hotel supply has exploded. If you are trying to stay in the neighborhood itself during peak tourist periods (CMA Fest week in June, holiday weekends), the Germantown Inn will be booked and you will need downtown options.

Parking at in-neighborhood hotels is easier than at downtown properties. Street parking in the residential sections of Germantown is generally free and available, unlike the metered and garage-dominated parking situation in SoBro and the Broadway area.
