How Much Does an Uber from Nashville Airport Cost?

An Uber from BNA to downtown Nashville has no fixed price: the app sets the fare when you request the ride, based on demand at that moment. What is fixed is the surcharge built into it. As of an August 2025 WSMV report, every Uber or Lyft trip that picks up or drops off at BNA carries a $5 airport fee, and rides that start at the airport carry an extra $2 Metro Nashville tax, so a ride from the airport includes $7 in fees before the fare, the distance, and the tip.
The Fees in the Fare
| Fee | Amount | Applies to | Where the money goes |
|---|---|---|---|
| BNA airport fee | $5 per trip (up from $4 on July 1, 2025) | each rideshare pickup or drop-off at the airport | the airport, toward transportation and roadway projects |
| Metro surcharge | $2 per trip | rides that start at the airport, including taxis and other contracted vehicles | the Music City Center, for construction debt and convention center costs |
Source: WSMV, August 2025. The fees appear on the itemized receipt rather than as a separate charge at booking. An Uber spokesperson told WSMV that the combined $12 for a round trip is “among the highest at any U.S. airport”; that is Uber’s characterization, not a published ranking. Fee levels can change, so check the itemized fare on your receipt.
What Moves the Rest of the Price
- Demand. Both apps raise prices in periods of high demand; the Vanderbilt guide below warns to expect higher prices on Friday and Saturday nights.
- Vehicle size. UberXL and other larger vehicles cost more than UberX.
- Destination. Downtown is about 8.7 miles by road from the terminal; Midtown and Germantown are about 11 miles (OSRM routing, no traffic). The full table is in how far BNA is from downtown.
The app shows an estimated fare before you accept, so the real comparison happens in the Ground Transportation Center on the day.
When a Taxi or the Bus Costs Less
- Taxi. Taxis from BNA to downtown or the Opryland area run at a flat rate, listed as $30 plus $2 per extra passenger by Vanderbilt’s guide to transportation from BNA. If the Uber quote is above the flat fare at a busy time, the taxi line is the cheaper choice. Confirm the flat fare with the driver before you leave.
- Bus. WeGo’s Route 18 costs $2 to WeGo Central downtown (WeGo).
Where Uber Picks You Up and Drops You Off
Uber pickups are in the Ground Transportation Center on Level 1 of Terminal Garage 2, at Zones B and C; Lyft uses Zone A, according to the Vanderbilt guide. Since June 3, 2025, rideshare drop-offs for departing passengers also happen at the Ground Transportation Center instead of the Departures curb on Terminal Drive (WSMV), about a five-minute walk from the terminal, WSMV reported. Leave time for that walk on the way to your flight. Choosing between Uber and Lyft in the city is covered in the best rideshare app in Nashville.
